Company History
Founded in 1973 by Harvey Wallace, Abacus Furniture Design began as a small shop at the Toronto Waterfront Antique Market. With customer demand the business model slowly metamorphosed from a small antique bookcase and armoire store into the full manufacturing facility today. Abacus Furniture Design is still family owned and operated to this day with Harvey’s daughter Kelly Banks now at the helm.

A big part of our business is the wood shop on site. We can tailor any dream or inspiration they have – sketch it on paper – then turn it into reality. We work along side many designers to get the perfect proportions or clean lines they need for a specific space.

Plans for the future
In May 2013 Kelly Banks took over ownership from her father Harvey, and has continued to bring his strong set of values to maintain the 40+ year tradition of manufacturing and providing quality that Abacus has become known for.
This summer, Abacus is throwing a bittersweet mega-sale in celebration of the retirement of Abacus founder Harvey Wallace.
